A poem about daily struggle

February. 2018

Tomorrow is a new day, tomorrow will be different I say as I close my eyes for the night

Today is a new day, today will be different, I say as I open my eyes for the new day

Things are going well, but then my feet touch the floor

The day passes so slowly, my conviction is fading so quickly

Why not slack a little I say, just dip my toe in I say

First just my toe than faster than I thought possible my head breaks through the water

I must have fallen in, the water has refreshed my head, my earlier convictions are remembered

My face turns red, the water feels like it is boiling

I fell in, but I said it would be different

The conviction returns, but not for now, because I am already in the water

I might as well take a swim

After all, tomorrow is a new day, tomorrow will be different
